Top left corner imprint and plate no. 97 block of 12, original gum which is slightly disturbed from prior hinging, vivid color, well-centered, two small closed tears in selvage at left, a few perfs reinforcedVERY FINE APPEARANCE. AN EXCEPTIONALLY RARE PLATE BLOCK OF THE 10-CENT JUSTICE DEPARTMENT OFFICIAL ISSUE. THIS IS THE ONLY RECORDED FULL PLATE BLOCK OF ANY OF THE TEN JUSTICE DENOMINATIONS.
Both the Scott and Durland catalogues list only this 10c plate block among the entire Justice Department series. No plate number examples of any size are listed in Durland for the 1c-3c and 12c-90c values. A block of four with plate number is listed for the 6c and a strip of four with plate number for the 10c, in addition to this unique 10c plate block of 12.
