VERY FINE. A RARE USAGE OF THE 2-PIASTERS BISECTED DIAGONALLY WHICH WAS AUTHORIZED FOR ONLY A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME IN CAIRO.
While nearing the end of validity of the 1866 Issue, 1 piaster stamps were in critically short supply. Permission was granted for 2 piasters to be bisected in Cairo from July 20-31 and Alexandria from July 16-31. Ex Delta Collection.
VERY FINE. A REMARKABLE COMPLETE IMPERFORATE PANE OF 50 EXAMPLES. AS ONLY 100 EXAMPLES WERE PRINTED, THIS PANE IS UNIQUE AND CONSISTS OF HALF OF THE SMALL AMOUNT KNOWN.
Any imperforate pane is incredibly rare as most were cut down and sold individually or in blocks. Nile Post value as singles
FINE. A KEY SHOWPIECE RARITY OF EGYPT COMPRISING TEN OF THE FIFTY EXAMPLES KNOWN INCLUDING THE ARABIC ONLY PORTION WHICH IS UNIQUE.
The remainder of the sheet was broken down into blocks of ten as well. This, the top portion, has the most dramatic shifts. With 1991 Hass certificate.
FINE. AN INCREDIBLY RARE 1898 POSTAGE DUE PROVISIONAL USE ON COVER PAYING THE DOUBLED (PENALTY) SOLDER'S RATE.
Unused examples of this stamp are quite common and falsely lead collectors into believing genuine uses are as well. These stamps were surcharged as there were no stamps to cover the 3m Solider's rate. Therefore, the rarity is due to the fact that these were used by soldiers sending letters home, often to small Egyptian towns with most lost to collectors. Many of the known examples suffer cover faults.
