Clear doubling of lines throughout the design, double-circle datestamp cancel, large thin spot and pulled perf at top, Fine appearance, an extremely rare example of this issue with a double impression, this used example may well be unique, according to Mr. Golden's notes, an unused block of four of the double impression variety was in the Atherton collection and apart from that multiple and this used single, we are not aware of another example, unlisted in Scott

Dec. 19, 1898" duplex datestamp on cover to Redding Conn. with Hawaiian Hotel corner card and red, blue and gold embossed U.S. and Hawaiian flags, San Francisco transit on back, stamp with slight perf toning and rounded corner at top right, tiny cover edge tear, still Very Fine, a beautiful and rare three-color patriotic design, the use of which coincides with both the Spanish-American War and Hawaii's annexation to the U.S.
