Cover sent unpaid by Egyptian officer from Korti to Cairo with bilingual "Wadi-Halfa Camp 19 JA 97" circular datestamp at bottom right, Arabic translation "Field Service, No Stamps Available, Korti" and countersigned by the officer, cover charged no tax upon arrival and with Cairo arrival backstamp, Very Fine and interesting use from an officer in the Expedition into Sudan

Total of seven panes of 60, per Charles Hass research in The Nile Post incl. 5m and 1p of the True First Setting (traditionally 3rd), 1m-5m of the True Second Setting (traditionally 1st) and the scarce 1m of the True Third Setting (traditionally 4th) of which this is the only known denomination in the setting, each pane showing the numerous plate varieties, original gum, hinge reinforcements, Very Fine, a rare opportunity for the specialist

Sale 1098, Lot 557, Sudan thru TransvaalSUDAN, 1901, 20m Carmine Rose & Ultramarine Postage Due, Bisect Usage (J8 var; SG D8 var). Local cover originating in Great Britain and franked with 1p stamp and tied by London Oct. 7, 1904 circular datestamp to Piccadilly, redirected to Cairo and El Obeid upon which the bisect was applied along with 2m Postage Due (J5; SG D5) and tied by "El Obeid 2 XI 1904" circular datestamp, various transit markings incl. "Travelling Post, Shellal, Halfa", rough opening at top causing 1p stamp to be torn in half, Fine, ex Freschi and Hass, a rare 20m bisect cover of which only three examples are known
