Two, used to seal top edge of officially opened short paid cover, one partly separated along fold, used with 2c Vermilion (183), pen cancel not tied, "Providence R.I. Jan. 9 12PM" circular datestamp on reverse, blue crayon manuscript "1c", matching "78" and additional manuscript at top obscured by seal, while this cover lacks a Dead Letter Office handstamp, the presence of the Providence circular datestamp on the back and the crayon manuscript markings on the front indicate handling by the Dead Letter Office, rare usage as such, with 2009 P.F. certificate
