Only one other stamp shares this grade and one has been graded higher (this stamp should have been graded 100). The other 98J was offered in our sale of the Nick Kirke collection and, while Superb, is not as visually striking as this stamp with the red New York and French datestamps

With 2013 P.S.E. certificate (OGh, Gem 100 Jumbo; unpriced in SMQ above the grade of 98, SMQ $2,400.00 as 98). The P.S.E. Population Report records one hinged and two Mint N.H. examples of the 3c 1851 Type I (Scott 11) graded 100J. However, the stamp offered here is the only unused example of the 3c 1851 Type II (Scott 11A) to receive this highest of grades (the highest Mint N.H. example is graded 98J).
