EXTREMELY FINE APPEARANCE. A STUNNING EXAMPLE OF THE $200.00 U.S.I.R. FIRST ISSUE.
Offered on behalf of Harvard University
VERY FINE. A RARE SOUND AND WIDE-MARGINED EXAMPLE OF THE $200.00 "SMALL PERSIAN RUG" -- ONE OF THE MOST COLORFUL STAMPS IN UNITED STATES PHILATELY.
Both the Small and Large "Persian Rug" stamps were printed in sheets of one. Because of their size, the large number of perforations on each stamp, and the fact that they were used on documents which were frequently folded across the stamps, sound and centered examples of the multicolored "Persian Rug" issues are extremely rare. This stamp from the Barnes estate was acquired before World War II.

VERY FINE. A BEAUTIFUL AND RARE SOUND AND WELL-CENTERED EXAMPLE OF THE CELEBRATED $500.00 "LARGE PERSIAN RUG," WHICH IS ONE OF THE MOST COLORFUL AND ELABORATELY ENGRAVED STAMPS IN ALL OF PHILATELY.
Only 204 were issued, and it is safe to say that most examples are faulty to some degree. A document exists from July 24, 1874, detailing the purchaser of each. The Kingsley census records 76 copies, and a handful are known outside of the census. The sound example offered here comes from the Barnes estate and was acquired before World War II (it is not listed in the Kingsley census). At least one other is known cancelled by the same user (Siegel Sale 978, lot 1177)
Unlisted in Kingsley Census. Scott Retail is for an example with small faults
VERY FINE APPEARANCE. A BEAUTIFUL AND REMARKABLY CHOICE EXAMPLE OF THE RARE $5.00 PROPRIETARY ON VIOLET PAPER.
It is believed that only 74 stamps were issued. Examples almost invariably have faults, often several, due to the stamp's large size and the nature of its use
