Appraisal of the Col. Edward H. R. Green Stamp Collection. Three-volume 1937 typed inventory and line-by-line appraisal for the Col. Green stamp collection, housed in three-ring binders, completed by the Prescott, Bullard & McLeod law firm which handled his estate, we have no idea if it is complete for every item that was in the Green collection but it is very extensive, an example of a single page shows, from Box 51, the 5c Carmine Error (Scott 485) in ten different blocks with an appraised value of $6,400, the original binding spines are disintegrating but the pages are undamaged, a fascinating and rare look at philately's past, Col. Green, the son of the "Witch of Wall Street" Hetty Green, was one of the most famous collectors in history and was the buyer of the Inverted "Jenny" Airmail sheet from Eugene Klein, his vast collection was disbursed by numerous auction firms in 28 sales during the 1940's -- as a side note, Bob Siegel was not given any part of the Green collection, because he would not hire J. W. Scott as his auctioneer
