EXTREMELY FINE GEM. AN ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING EXAMPLE OF THE IMPERFORATE 1851 ONE-CENT TYPE III. THIS STAMP'S ENORMOUS MARGINS AND LIGHT CANCEL HAVE EARNED IT THE COVETED P.S.E. GRADE OF SUPERB 98 JUMBO -- ONE OF ONLY TWO EXAMPLES TO ACHIEVE THIS GRADE.

Sale 992, Lot 2034, 1c 1851-56 Issue (Scott 5-9)1c Blue, Ty. IIIa (8A). Position 35R4, full margins all around, wonderful deep rich color with a virtually face-free portion of cork cancel at top right, there is a tiny break in the bottom frameline that should qualify this as Ty. III, the impression is strong so we surmise that this is only plate wear of a weak original line, Very Fine, with 2009 P.S.E. certificate as Ty. IIIa and 2008 Weiss certificate as Ty. III No. 8 which states "Must be plated for positive type identification as bottom frame break is tiny. Barely qualifies as #8", we agree with the P.S.E. opinion
