The Tobias Exhibit Collection of Manuscript Cancels of Virginia During the Confederacy. 132 covers mounted and written up on pages, arranged in categories: Independent State and C.S.A. Use of U.S. Stamps, Manuscript and Handstamped "Paid", General Issues, Patriotics, Soldier's Due, and Adversity, a diverse selection with virtually all different town markings or frankings, includes May 7, 1861 First Day of Virginia C.S.A. Statehood (two), illegal postmaster's franks, advertising and college covers (four), patriotics (four Confederate plus two captured Union patriotics), more than a half-dozen adversity covers, General Issues incl. Nos. 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 9 (two) and 13, a few combinations such as Nos. 1 & 4 and 4 & 7, almost all have typical faults, but the covers are presentable and assembled with great care over many years by Mr. Tobias, an outstanding opportunity for the Confederate specialist or dealer
