Two singles, tied together by twice-struck "Hoboken N.J. Mar. 28" duplex datestamp and star oval cancel on legal-size cover paying 36 times the UPU rate to France (possibly a Supplementary Mail usage), printed address and ship endorsement, 1890 Paris backstamp; cover with some edgewear and vertical file fold at left, right stamp tiny tear at top right not mentioned on accompanying certificate
VERY FINE. A HANDSOME AND VERY RARE USAGE OF THE 90-CENT 1888 AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY ISSUE. WITHOUT QUESTION ONE OF THE FINEST HIGH-VALUE BANK NOTE ISSUE COVERS IN EXISTENCE.
Although the 90c Purple saw extensive use on parcels -- several large used blocks are known -- very few covers survive. This is probably the finest known usage on a full cover.
With 1992 P.F. certificate
