Holton, a Boston stamp dealer, Halifax receiving backstamp, large rectangular repair in address area (expertly done and practically unnoticeable)

VERY FINE APPEARANCE. THE LARGEST RECORDED FRANKING OF THE ONE-CENT 1869 RE-ISSUE, OF WHICH ONLY SEVEN COVERS ARE RECORDED.

This cover is not one of the six listed in the 1869 PRA census. Ex "European" Collection

Complete pane of 70 with imprint and plate no. at top, without gum as issued, rich color, natural s.e. at bottom, tiny tear in top left selvage, Position 13 with small thin and Position 10 with small toned spot

FINE-EXTREMELY FINE. A RARE COMPLETE PANE OF THE 1881 ONE-CENT PICTORIAL RE-ISSUE.

The stamp was printed in sheets of 150 and cut into panes of 70 and 80. There are three panes known to exist.
