We know of only one other cut-square example of the 5c 78X1 provisional, a stained and defective copy on cover. There is also a cut-square copy of 78X3 on cover, ex Caspary.

THIS IS THE ONLY RECORDED EXAMPLE OF THE 5-CENT SPARTANBURG PROVISIONAL ON BLUISH PAPER, ON OR OFF COVER.

According to Dietz, a second type of 5c provisional was produced, with a smaller and thicker "5". It is known on blue paper with horizontal ruled lines and on brown wove paper. Our records contain only one example of each, both ex Caspary.
