FINE APPEARANCE. ONE OF ONLY TWO EXAMPLES OF THE 1881 3-CENT RE-ENGRAVED AMERICAN BANK NOTE ISSUE WITH DOUBLE IMPRESSION KNOWN TO US, AND THE ONLY EXAMPLE ON COVER. A GREAT RARITY.
The only other example of this stamp known to us was offered as lot 149 in our 1978 Rarities sale. The cover offered here is the listing example.
With 1989 P.F. certificate.
VERY FINE. A RARE COMMERCIAL REGISTERED USAGE WITH A HORIZONTAL PAIR OF THE 30-CENT 1888 AMERICAN BANK NOTE PRINTING.
The cover offered here, franked with 70c in postage, pays 12-times the 5c rate, for a total weight of 6 oz. Sent from a mining supply company, the cover probably contained a metal sample.
Letter-size covers with high-denomination Bank Note stamps should be considered rare. The example offered here, franked correctly to pay the prevailing rate on a letter-size cover, is a wonderful exhibition item.
VERY FINE AND COLORFUL COMBINATION COVER OF THE SAMOA PALM TREE ISSUE AND UNITED STATES STAMPS.
FINE-VERY FINE. ONE OF THE UNDERRATED LATE 19TH CENTURY ISSUES, WHICH IS EXCEEDINGLY SCARCE IN LARGE MULTIPLES.
Scott Retail as singles
VERY FINE AND CHOICE. A BEAUTIFUL AND RARE USAGE OF THE 90-CENT 1890 ISSUE ON A REGISTERED COVER. PROBABLY FEWER THAN TEN COVERS ARE KNOWN WITH THE 90-CENT 1890 ISSUE.
Unpriced in Scott. With 1993 P.F. certificate.
