circular datestamp, red "Paid" in arc applied at New York City post office, blue ms. "5" rate, two vertical file folds, one thru stamp (effectively tying it)
VERY FINE. THIS IS THE UNIQUE USAGE OF THE NEW YORK POSTMASTERS' PROVISIONAL FROM JERSEY CITY.
It is believed that this cover was carried by a passenger on the ferry and deposited on arrival at Jersey City, then routed back thru the New York City post office where marked "Paid".
