Griffin Ga. Oct. 19. 1861 cds, "Paid" and "10" in circle hs on cover with magnificent Synodical Female College blue corner card with illustration of building, to Vice President Stephens at Richmond Va., docketing indicates sender was Rev. J. C. Patterson who enclosed $20 for benefit of sick soldiers, tiny soiling specks at bottom edge mentioned only to emphasize Extremely Fine and fresh condition of this beautiful cover, backflaps intact (unusual for this correspondence), the building on this corner card was used as an emergency hospital for Confederate soldiers from the battlefields of Jonesboro, Griffin and Atlanta (it burned in 1865)
