A FINE AND EXTREMELY RARE USE OF THE BLACK JACK STAMP TO PAY SHIP FEE ON A TRANS-OCEANIC COVER FROM HAWAII TO ENGLAND VIA SAN FRANCISCO AND NEW YORK
The double rate U.S. postage to England was prepaid with the 24c pair, and the Black Jack stamp prepaid the 2c ship captain's fee. Hawaiian postage was paiud in coin at the Honolulu post office. Very few covers are known showing use of the Black Jack stamp from Hawaii.
