THE UNIQUE IMPRINT BLOCK OF THIS RARE PROVISIONAL GOVERNMENT OVERPRINT ERROR

Only one sheet of 50 of this overprint error of color was issued. Most of these were bought by dealer J.H. Makins in 1901, who is said to have been representing Henry J. Crocker, though Makin had some on hand during the San Francisco earthquake, which destroyed eight of the 10c value.
