Sale Number 1192, Lot Number 387, 1901 Pan-American Issue, Inverts (Scott 294a, 295a, 296a)2c Pan-American, Center Inverted (295a), 2c Pan-American, Center Inverted (295a)2c Pan-American, Center Inverted (295a). Original gum with an area of disturbance at center from hinge removal, phenomenally bright fresh color, as fresh as the day it was printed, choice centering with wide margins

EXTREMELY FINE. A BEAUTIFUL ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 2-CENT PAN-AMERICAN INVERT. OFFERED TO THE MARKET FOR THE FIRST TIME IN DECADES.

A survey of the Levi records produced 64 single unused stamps (excluding the block of four and rejoined block of four). Many of these were described in auction catalogues more than 40 years ago; therefore, the determination of soundness is uncertain. However, assuming the old descriptions were reaffirmed today, approximately 45% of singles across all centering categories have faults. The example offered here, which was kept in a safe deposit box for more than 70 years (sharing space with the Inverted Jenny Position 49), is exceedingly fresh.
