Dec 14" (1861) double-circle datestamp on 3c Red on Buff Star Die entire (U27) to Mrs. Charles Ellet Jr. at Georgetown, D.C., manuscript "Exd" marking above indicia indicating Flag-of-Truce passage, most of backflap missing, minor edge tears, Fine and unusual, the earliest recorded use of this Old Point Comfort datestamp is Dec. 6, 1861, so this must be an 1861 use, accompanied by biographical information on Charles Ellet and extensive correspondence attesting to the 1861 usage (despite a photocopy of an old C.S.A. certificate stating 1860), ex Gimelson
