Sale Number 1131, Lot Number 2526, 1875 Continental Bank Note Company Issue (Scott PR9-PR32)$3.00 Vermilion, 1875 Issue (PR25), $3.00 Vermilion, 1875 Issue (PR25)$3.00 Vermilion, 1875 Issue (PR25). Original gum, vivid color, near perfect centering with wide margins

EXTREMELY FINE. AN OUTSTANDING EXAMPLE OF THE $3.00 1875 CONTINENTAL NEWSPAPER ISSUE. ONE OF THE MOST DIFFICULT DENOMINATIONS OF THE SERIES TO OBTAIN IN SOUND, CENTERED, ORIGINAL-GUM CONDITION. THIS MAY BE THE FINEST EXAMPLE WE HAVE EVER OFFERED.

When we last offered this stamp in our 2004 sale of the "Vineyard" collection, we conducted a review of our records and stated that this is a notoriously difficult stamp to find with original gum in Extremely Fine condition. We found only one comparable example, with part original gum (which was subsequently offered in the Floyd sale). Since 2004 our views remain unchanged, and we have not encountered another example comparable to this.

Ex "Vineyard". With 1983 and 2002 P.F. certificates
