VERY FINE AND CHOICE. AN EXTRAORDINARILY RARE MINT NEVER-HINGED TOP SHEET-SELVAGE SET OF THE 1934 BASUTOLAND KING GEORGE V OFFICIALS. NO MORE THAN TEN UNUSED SETS ARE POSSIBLE WITH ONLY ONE OTHER TOP SELVAGE SET KNOWN. ONE OF THE KEY SETS OF THE BRITISH COMMONWEALTH IN THE FINEST CONDITION OBTAINABLE.

In January 1934, 300 of each value were supplied to the Secretariat in Maseru. A handful of uses are known between February and June, 1934. The issue was officially withdrawn and the remainders destroyed. Only 24 of the -1/2p, 34 of 1p, 54 of 2p, and 27 of 6p are thought to have been issued. According to the monograph written by Barry Fletcher, only ten of the -1/2p and 6p, eighteen of the 1p, and 14 of the 2p exist in unused condition.
