4c Trans-Mississippi (287). Bottom imprint and plate no. 636 pair, used with single 1c Trans-Mississippi (285) with bottom imprint selvage, tied by "Richmond Ill. Feb. 11 3PM 1899" circular datestamps on registered legal size 4c Carmine entire to Honolulu, Hawaii, forwarded to U.S. Postal Agency in Shanghai via Yokohama, forwarded again to Berlin, Germany, then sent to New York, then to the Dead Letter Office and finally back to Richmond Ill., tremendous range of markings from each stage of the journey including San Francisco and Shanghai registry labels, D.L.O. record handstamp ties 4c stamps, German label on back noting insufficient address, vertical file fold does not affect stamps, split at left and partly at bottom, Very Fine appearance, a fantastic use
