EXTREMELY FINE GEM. THIS SPECTACULAR MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE 1887 3-CENT VERMILION AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY ISSUE IS GRADED SUPERB 98 JUMBO BY P.S.E.
The 3c Vermilion can be found with wide margins, but rarely with wide margins and precise centering. This corner-margin example in Mint N.H. condition -- perfectly centered within enormous balanced margins -- is a true "miracle" stamp.
Ex Dr. Morris and "Westchester". With 1991 P.F. and 2007 P.S.E. certificates (Superb 98 Jumbo; SMQ $6,750.00). Only one has graded higher (at 100J, we have never offered it) and no others share this grade.
