Pair, used with 1c Gray Blue (206) and three 2c Red Brown (210), 2c tied by cork cancels, other stamps with pen cancels on 1884 cover to St. Helena and forwarded back to Washington D.C., initially only the 2c stamps were present on the cover, back struck with purple six-line "Deficiency in U.S. Postage supplied by U.S. Govt Despatch Agency, New York..." handstamp, St. Helena circular datestamps (Apr. 11 and 21) and Washington receiving backstamp, right 2c stamp with small flaws, overall Fine and rare combination of elements, the samaritan postage contribution made up the correct 27c rate via British Mail

Feb. 8, 1887" oval backstamp, other backstamps include San Francisco, Hong Kong, boxed "Unclaimed/Non Reclame" and triangular "Dead Letter Office Sep. 26 87", San Francisco registry label, Very Fine and colorful, carried on the PMSS City of Sydney, which departed San Francisco Feb. 13, 1887 and arrived Hong Kong March 24, it was unclaimed and after three months was sent to the Dead Letter Office in Washington D.C.
