Jul. 14" (1874) .circular datestamp on unsealed buff cover to Paris, France, red "New York Paid to England Jul. 15" transit datestamp, red London backstamp (Jul. 27), Calais transit datestamp (Jul. 28), partly clear strike of "GB/1F" Anglo-French accountancy handstamp for printer matter struck below strip, "5" decimes due handstamp, Paris backstamps, manuscript "Refused" on back and other notations indicate this was sent back to the D.P.O. in Boston, Very Fine, rare use of this Anglo-French accountancy handstamp, an article by Jeffrey C. Bohn (Chronicle 143, Aug. 1989, p. 112) states "In theory, printed matter sent from the U.S. to France in the British open mails during this period should also have received the "GB/1FPK" accountancy marking previously employed during the first three months of 1857 (Period V above). However, no examples have been reported", this unsealed envelope which must have contained printed matter is such an example, ex "Andromeda"
