VERY FINE AND CHOICE. AN EXTREMELY RARE EXAMPLE OF THE 12-CENT 1857 ISSUE FROM PLATE 1 WITH A GREEN CANCEL.
The cancel on this stamp is a true green color, not bluish-green or an adulterated green ink. The cancel's unusual configuration and distinctive green color make this 12c 1857 stamp one of the most striking we have ever encountered.
Ex Saadi. With 1994 and 2014 P.F. certificates
EXTREMELY FINE GEM USED EXAMPLE OF THE 12-CENT 1857 ISSUE FROM PLATE 1. A DIFFICULT STAMP TO FIND IN SUCH SUPERB CONDITION AND DESIRABLE WITH A COLORED CANCEL.
Ex Kirke. With 2006 P.S.E. certificate (XF-Superb 95; SMQ $2,750.00). Only four grade higher.
EXTREMELY FINE GEM. THIS SUPERB USED EXAMPLE OF THE 12-CENT 1857 ISSUE FROM PLATE ONE IS GRADED SUPERB 98 BY P.S.E. -- THIS IS THE HIGHEST GRADE AWARDED.
Due to narrow spacing on the plate, most examples of this stamp have perforations touching at least part of the outer frameline of the design. The example offered here has far wider margins than most.
Ex Merlin. With 1989, 2003 and 2007 P.F. and 2009 P.S.E. certificates (Superb 98; SMQ $10,000.00). This is the highest grade awarded and only three others share it. This is the first we have offered in this grade since 2012.
