EXTREMELY FINE. A RARE UNUSED EXAMPLE OF THE 5-CENT 1847 ISSUE WITH THE TYPE B DOUBLE TRANSFER. WE KNOW OF ONLY TWO OTHER UNUSED EXAMPLES OF THIS DISTINCT DOUBLE TRANSFER POSITION.

We record three unused examples of the 5c 1847 Type B Double Transfer: 1) right stamp in pair, showing small part of sheet margin, sound, original gum, ex Frelinghuysen; 2) single with slightly redistributed gum, showing part of sheet margin, small toned spots, small crease; and 3) unused (no gum) with right sheet margin, the example offered here.

With 1996 P.F. certificate. Listed but unpriced as unused in Scott.
