Sutterley New Orleans imprint, gently cleaned and accompanying certificate states "original backflaps reattached", which is expertly done because it is difficult to detect, Extremely Fine appearance, the unusual arrangement of the stars on this flag mirrors the 10-Star design with this same flag (F10-16), with the addition of the central star, with 2001 C.S.A. certificate

Sale Number 1190, Lot Number 1466, Patriotics–Independent and Confederate State Use of U.S. StampsRichmond Va. Apr. 19, 1861, Richmond Va. Apr. 19, 1861Richmond Va. Apr. 19, 1861. Circular datestamp ties 3c Dull Red, Ty. III (26) on cover to Mr. Elsey on board the steamer City of Richmond at Philadelphia Pa. with red and blue 7-Star Small Confederate Flag Patriotic design (F7-7A/B variety), stamp with small corner crease and slight oxidation, light soiling at bottom, still Very Fine use of U.S. postage on an Independent State cover, mailed only two days after Virginia seceded -- the City of Richmond arrived at Philadelphia from Richmond on Apr. 6 -- this is also a rare design which shares elements of both F7-7A and F7-7B (though with only one rope evident instead of the listed two), the C.S.A. Catalog lists the F7-7B design only on the larger flag, with F7-7A on the smaller flag, in reality this exactly matches neither of the listings and should have its own catalog number, ex Rosenberg
