FINE OVERALL APPEARANCE. ONE OF THE MOST SPECTACULAR CONFEDERATE PATRIOTIC DESIGNS.

The uniformed officer in this design resembles General P. G. T. Beauregard (as does SN-4). Among the designs depicting a detailed officer likeness, only MS-1 is actually labeled with Beauregard's name.

Apr. 13, 1862" circular datestamp, struck again on cover with clear "STEAM BOAT" straightline handstamp, to Williamsburg Va., slight wear along top edge, bend from contents thru pair which has minor gum soaks, still Very Fine, waterway mail carried by Confederate steamboats along the Alabama River and its tributaries is rare, this is one of the finest examples known, ex Emerson, Knapp, Shenfield, Antrim and Everett
