THIS IS THE ONLY RECORDED EXAMPLE OF THE EAGLE CARRIER USED IN CLEVELAND.

With the appointment of Henry S. Bishop, Cleveland's carrier system commenced operation in 1853. There is no record of an Eagle Carrier shipment to Cleveland, so it is likely that this cover was mailed by someone passing through who had in his possession an Eagle Carrier stamp.
