Margins clear at sides and slightly in at top and bottom, bright fresh color, tied by large red "PAID" straightline handstamp used in this instance as a cancel on brown cover to local street address

EXTREMELY FINE. THE FINEST TIED USAGE OF THE SMALL BLUE EAGLE POST STAMP, WHICH IS EXTREMELY SCARCE ON COVER AND ALMOST ALWAYS UNCANCELLED.

Accompanied by a note that reads (in part): "Burger & Co., who have possibly a better knowledge of Locals and have sold more than anyone at this time (1936) pronounce this the finest cover of it they have ever seen." We searched our auction records and photo files to locate another Blue 61L4 stamp tied by a handstamp. In the Caspary catalogue, we were able to locate the description of one stamp tied on a cover with the address cut out. However, the cover offered here is the only complete cover with this stamp tied by a handstamp that we have been able to locate.
