Huge top margin showing bit of adjoining stamp, other sides mostly large except just in at bottom right corner, red grid cancel (not tied), red "New Orleans La. 5 Nov. 19" integral-rate circular datestamp on 1851 folded letter to Philadelphia, file folds, Very Fine example of the rare Mason's stamp; however, unless it can be proven that Mason continued to carry mail after the New Orleans carrier department was established in August 1851, we do not believe that a usage as late as November 1851 is possible -- ex Grant and not among the six Mason 2c covers listed in our census (see Golden sale, lots 1328-1330) -- estimated value based only on off-cover stamp
