Four stamps on separate covers to the same Lansingville N.Y. addressee, we call these the "Belvidere Quadruplets", comprising a series of markings, beginning with an austere ms. "Belvidere Mar. 8" pmk., continuing with two "Belvidere N.Y." circular datestamps in black (Jan. 17) and bright green (Aug. 17), and ending with a huge brownish-red "Belvidere N.Y. Dec. 24" cds, all perfect strikes, minor cover wrinkles, stamps generally Fine, an incomparable "set" of covers showing the evolution of one town's postmark $ 800
1156 C 3c Pale Red (11). Bottom left corner sheet margins, other sides slightly in to clear, ms. cancel, gum toning, "JEFFERSON, GA. APR." ornately framed straightline hs with cherubs at top, on 1855 folded letter to Carnsville Ga., docketing, Fine, extremely rare $ 1,300
1157 C 3c Dull Red (11). Ample margins to slightly in, tied by green square grid, matching "Ashfield Mass." rimless town circle with ms. date on lady's small embossed cover to West Springfield, light soiling and edge tear, otherwise Fine $ 210

1161 C 3c Dull Red (11). Two, margins to cut in, cancelled by pen strokes, "Uniontown H.B. Cal. Sep.9, 54" blue oval hs with date in ms. on cover to Medfield Mass., some edge wear, still Fine, there were two Uniontowns in Cal., the H.B. stands for Humboldt Bay and was used to distinguish one from the other $ 375
