Nov. 25" circular datestamp and "Held for Postage" straightline hs on cover to French Consulate in Hong Kong, magenta "San Francisco Paid All Dec. 12" transit cds, opened to show back of cover, which bears "Good Samaritan" Return Postage Label, from a third party who supplied 10c stamp and asks for reimbursement, two strikes "Hong-Kong C Ja 7 70" receiving cds -- once on cover and again on label -- along with writing in Chinese, couple minor edge flaws, still Very Fine, a striking exhibition item and fascinating postal history usage -- although domestic postage was provided by kind-hearted individuals, and 3c covers are seen with labels such as this, we cannot recall seeing another example of an 1869 Pictorial foreign-mail usage prepaid in this manner (let alone a 10c cover to Hong Kong) $ 1,500
