Collection of over 60 letters and papers relating to Will Denver, some
written by family members but also several written by him, some with
fascinating content from Civil War period incl. one stating "Free
Americans of African descent shall have the same pay, same bounty, same
rations, same clothing and on equal footing with white soldiers on every
respect...all officers or soldiers who shall interfere with this policy in
any respect either in words or in acts against it...I am empowered by the
President to dismiss from the Army.", also better war-related content
regarding the siege of Vicksburg, hiring Southerners as scouts, an 1847
letter to General F. Pierce (later President), regarding battles,
casualties, etc., some with Gold Rush content, few sent to him regarding
his duel in Cal., some faults, a very interesting group of letters relating
to many important aspects of this famous figure's life |

pressing, some slight edge wear but no serious flaking or loss of
manuscript, signatures very bold, Very Fine and scarce document signed by
