for A. C. Roessler with typewritten inscription "Capt. Von Gronau, Dornier
Wahl D. 1422" and ms. "Thru Courtesy P.M. Halifax N.S.", Canada 2c Green
entire uprated with 20c Special Delivery tied by Halifax Aug. 25 circular
datestamp, U.S. 2c Red tied on arrival by New York Aug. 26 duplex,
patriotic flag stickers at bottom, East Orange N.J. Aug. 27 receiving
backstamp, Very Fine, only covers with the New York Aug. 26 receiving
datestamp are considered true flight covers, this example with the stamp
tied on the front is especially scarce and desirable

Japanese 6s postal card with additional franking tied by Yokohama Aug. 25
circular datestamp, typewritten address to Berkeley Cal. with endorsement
and "#3 of 10 cards carried", signed "Harold Gatty (Navigator)",
Very Fine, Bromley and Gatty were forced to return to Japan after flying
1,250 miles, according to AAMC three covers and eleven cards were carried,

sender's inscription at left, Newfoundland 5c Caribou tied by Harbour Grace
Oct. 9 circular datestamp, strip of Great Britain -1/2p Geo. V tied by
Bournemouth Oct. 13 receiving datestamps, Very Fine, unusual combination,

plane and both aviators were lost between Bermuda and the Azores -- the
postcard has a typed note "First stage made--more difficult than
expected--a series of unfortunate accidents--next jump our big test--the
