2025 c image1928, Aug. 16-Oct. 18 -- Attempted Flight from Rockford Ill. to Stockholm, Sweden (AAMC 1084). 5c Beacon tied by Rockford Oct. 18 duplex on Aero Philatelic Society corner card cover prepared by Harry Truby, signed by Bert Hassell and Parker Cramer, appropriate endorsements, Very Fine, one of only ten covers carried on the attempted flight from the U.S. to Sweden over Greenland, "Fish" Hassell and "Shorty" Cramer crashed during a blizzard over the icecap in Greenland. A fishing vessel rescued them after a thirteen-day trek across the icecap. Their plane was discovered sixteen years later during World War II.
