$1.00 Violet Black (478).
Mint N.H. top imprint, "A", and plate no. block of six with full selvage,
deep dark color and sharp proof-like impression, remarkably post-office
fresh and intactVERY FINE. AN INCREDIBLY RARE MINT NEVER-HINGED PLATE BLOCK OF THE RARE $1.00 PERF 10 UNWATERMARKED FRANKLIN ISSUE WITH FULL TOP SELVAGE. Our search of auction catalogues of major plate block collections has yielded precious few examples, and none are Mint Never-Hinged. Todd had two with full top selvage, but both were hinged, and Wampler had one hinged with narrow bottom selvage. This may be unique in Mint Never-Hinged condition with full top selvage. (Image) |
