Printed "Washington D.C. 1883" seal affixed to back of cover used within England and forwarded to Cincinnati O., bearing G.B. 1p pair and -1/2p stamps tied by "Londonderry FE 26, 1883" duplexes, Dublin transit, blue "Misdirected" handstamp, red "Dead Letter Office Deficiency in Address Supplied at" handstamp, triangular Dead Letter Office backstamp, seal dated April 16, opened for display, some wear, Very Fine, this is a newly discovered seal and the basis for what will be a new Scott Catalogue listing, this seal predates the earliest seal, OXA1 (Image) E. 1,500-2,000 750.00

VERY FINE APPEARANCE. A RARE ORIGINAL-GUM BLOCK OF NINE OF THE ONE-CENT EXPRESS IMPERFORATE ISSUE. THIS IS THE LARGEST UNUSED MULTIPLE OF THIS ISSUE.

According to the most recent census information, available at www.thecurtiscollection.com, this and one other unused block of nine are the largest unused multiples. The other example, in a private collection, does not contain a plate no. or partial imprint.
