Laid, Star Die Wrapper (W22). Unused, bright and freshEXTREMELY FINE. AN EXCEEDINGLY RARE EXAMPLE OF THE ONE-CENT BLUE STAR DIE WRAPPER ON HORIZONTALLY LAID PAPER. VERY FEW ARE KNOWN.
At the time of the Barkhausen sale it was stated that probably less than a dozen examples on any paper variety (wove, horizontally or vertically laid) were known.

"Two", cut square (U275). 34 x 36mm, rich color on crisp paper, neat
strike of dots in target cancel, clear part of papermaker's watermark, thin
spot at right centerVERY FINE APPEARANCE. THE 2-CENT BROWN ON BLUE WITH ROUND "O" IN "TWO" IS ONE OF THE RAREST OF ALL POSTAL STATIONERY ISSUES. NONE ARE KNOWN UNUSED AND ONLY A HANDFUL ARE KNOWN USED.
The last example to be offered at auction sold for $19,000 in the Floyd sale, where it was described as one of four known used cut squares (one used entire is also known). The example offered here was not included in their census.

design on both back and frontdesign differs from issued in several respects
incl. shading lines, overall quality and the presence of two "burrs" next
to denomination, fresh and Very Fine, this is the only reported example of
this essay, which was prepared by the Chillicothe Paper Co. in Chillicothe

Mail" overlay which displays slightly different spacing than the issued
design, Very Fine and choice, from a new discovery

"United States Air Mail Postage 6c" Essays (UC18-E, unlisted). Two
entires with dark repeating pattern of "United States Air Mail Postage 6c"
printed in mirror image on inside of envelope, creating right-reading faint
image on entire outside, one with red "Cancelled" handstamp at top right,
other with 6c Red embossed stamp with same red "Cancelled" handstamp, fresh
and Extremely Fine, from a newly discovered find
