around, brilliant color and detailed impression.EXTREMELY FINE GEM. AN EXTRAORDINARILY RARE MINT NEVER-HINGED JOINT LINE PAIR OF THE 1915 2-CENT TYPE I VERTICAL COIL. AN OUTSTANDING RARITY.
Type I rotary press stamps were produced using the same master dies as had been used for flat plate printings. However, due to the curve of the plate to fit the rotary press, the impressions lacked some of the details of the flat plate printings. New dies were made with strengthened lines, resulting in the Type II stamps. After plate wear was noticed, further strengthening was necessary, resulting in the Type III stamps. Scott 449 was not produced until almost a year and a half after the Type I horizontal coil, Scott 453. Due to the unpopularity of vertical coils, this Type I stamp was in production for only a short period of time before being discontinued. The joint line pair offered here, in Mint N.H. condition and with such choice centering and color, is a major rarity, and it is arguably the finest Scott 449 line pair extant.

N.H. top plate no. block of six with full selvage, rich color,
well-centered, post-office fresh and intactEXTREMELY FINE. A SUPERB TOP PLATE NUMBER BLOCK OF THE 6-CENT 1916 ISSUE.
The 6c 1916 Issue is exceedingly rare as a full top plate block in Mint N.H. condition. We have never seen another plate block of Scott No. 468 approaching this condition.

Mint N.H., perfect centering with wide and well-balanced margins, intense
color and impression on bright paperEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB EXAMPLE OF THE $1.00 PERF 10 UNWATERMARKED FRANKLIN STAMP IN THE FINEST CONDITION ATTAINABLE.
This stamp was only used for less than six months before the Perf 11 stamps were produced. Due to its short production run and the only difference between this and the previous $1.00 stamp (Scott 460) being the watermark, many collectors and dealers of the day overlooked this stamp. It is especially scarce with such perfect centering.
