FINE APPEARANCE. ONE OF ONLY TWO EXAMPLES OF THE 1881 3-CENT RE-ENGRAVED AMERICAN BANK NOTE ISSUE WITH DOUBLE IMPRESSION KNOWN TO US, AND THE ONLY EXAMPLE ON COVER. A GREAT RARITY.

The only other example of this stamp known to us was offered as lot 149 in our 1978 Rarities sale. The cover offered here is the listing example.
