Camp Floyd U.T. April 18.
Well-struck rimless arc handstamp with 3c Dull Red, Ty. I (25) tied by ms.
"Camp Floyd U.T. Feby. 7" pmk. on cover to Assistant Surgeon L.
C. Lane aboard U.S.S. "Decatur" in care of U.S. Consul at Panama,
endorsed "Via California" and rated "Paid 20", light toning
across left side, some slight edgewear, otherwise Fine, extremely rare
usage from Utah Territory to Panama, the combination of manuscript and
handstamped Camp Floyd markings is very unusual, and the difference in
dates suggests that the letter was held for more than two months until a
westward transit was arranged (Image) |
