on legal-size cover to Virginia City, another strike of datestamp and red
notary public label seals on back, 1863 court docketing, slightly reduced
at left, expertly restored around edges, some lighted stains around
stampsVERY FINE APPEARANCE. ONE OF TWO STRIPS OF THREE OF THE 25-CENT BLUE VIRGINIA CITY PONY EXPRESS STAMP ON COVER. A REMARKABLE ARTIFACT OF WESTERN POSTAL HISTORY. This cover was sent by the American Gold & Silver Mine Co. from San Francisco to the Clerk of the District Court in Virginia City, Nevada Territory, to establish a mining claim.
