Pencil notation on cover to Chatham Centre N.Y., neat "Held for
Postage" handstamp and partial strike of Oswego N.Y. town datestamp,
yellow Young Men's Christian Association label affixed at top with
"Do Unto Others" quote, two 3c Rose (65), one defective, other tied by
grid, barely reduced at left, Fine, unusual usage, the defective stamp was
placed on the cover in a blatant attempt to re-use the cancelled stamp,
when this was not allowed by the postmaster, the Association paid for the
