Only, "Zone Canal" (71c, 71d). Top margin block of four with part arrow
at left, natural s.e. at left, barely tropicalized original gum, deep rich
colorVERY FINE AND CHOICE. A RARE TOP SHEET-MARGIN BLOCK WITH TOP STAMPS THE "CANAL" ONLY VARIETY AND BOTTOM STAMPS THE "ZONE CANAL" VARIETY. ONLY TWENTY SUCH COMBINATION PAIRS WERE PRINTED. This variety was created when the sheet was shifted downwards during overprinting. 180 stamps bear the "Zone Canal" variety. Only twenty were printed with "Canal" only. It is believed the bottom panes were destroyed. Purple "Klein" backstamps. With 1984 P.F. certificate. Scott Retail as four singles. (Image) |
