EXTREMELY FINE. AN OUTSTANDING EXAMPLE OF THE ONE-CENT CONTINENTAL HARD-PAPER SPECIAL PRINTING.

Most of the Continental Hard-Paper Special Printings were scissors-separated when issued, often causing trimmed perforations or straight edges. This stamp has exceptionally full perforations on all sides.

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB EXAMPLE OF THE 12-CENT 1875 CONTINENTAL BANK NOTE SPECIAL PRINTING. APPROXIMATELY 60 ARE BELIEVED TO EXIST.

A survey of our Levi records and past auction catalogues shows that many examples have perforations scissors-separated on at least one side. There are perhaps twenty sound copies with perforations intact on all sides, and most do not rate the grade of Extremely Fine.

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. THIS IS ONE OF THE FINEST EXAMPLES OF THE 15-CENT 1875 CONTINENTAL SPECIAL PRINTINGS IN EXISTENCE.

Our Levi records of Scott 174 contain fewer than 40 examples. Of these, an overwhelming majority have the perforations scissors-separated on at least one side. Only five or six have intact perforations, and of these perhaps half are faulty.
