EXTREMELY FINE GEM. THIS IS THE ONLY CENTERED EXAMPLE OF THIS STAMP IN SOUND CONDITION. ONLY SIXTEEN USED EXAMPLES OF THE 3-CENT 1861 RE-ISSUE ARE RECORDED IN OUR CENSUS RECORDS.

Our census contains only sixteen used examples of the 3c 1861 Re-Issue. Of these sixteen, only seven are sound. Of the seven sound copies, five have perforations either close or touching on one side. The other sound copy is not as well-centered as the example offered here.

The cancel on this stamp is known to have been used in Baltimore at the time that the 1861 and 1869 Re-Issues were used for postage by stamp dealers. Our records contain a copy of a cover bearing Scott Nos. 126 and 133 used with Nos. 205, 206 and 210 to Holland, mailed in 1884.

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. THE 30-CENT 1861 RE-ISSUE IS ONE OF THE MOST DIFFICULT VALUES OF THE SET TO OBTAIN WITH SUCH WIDE MARGINS.

Our Levi records contain 146 unused singles, an unused pair and an unused block of four. Many have margins either touching or in on at least one side. Of the centered copies, few are sound. Of the sound copies even fewer retain all or part of their original gum.

EXTREMELY FINE. AN OUTSTANDING ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 90-CENT 1861 RE-ISSUE.

The 90c 1861 Re-Issue is the rarest denomination of the set -- only 317 were issued. The example offered here, with original-gum, sound and well-centered, is a great rarity.
