entire (40XU4). Strikes at left of yellow cover addressed to "Chief
Justice of Bexar County, San Antonio Texas", faint strike of "Houston
Tex. Jul. 15, 1862" circular datestamp at top right, slightly reduced and
some slight wear, Fine and rare, only two examples of this re-valued
postmaster's provisional are known to us and this is the only example
listed in the Crown survey, with 1994 C.S.A. certificate (Image)

(40XU2). Provisional handstamp struck at left on mourning cover to
Columbia Tex., from the Adriance correspondence, "Houston Tex. Feb. 24,
186?" circular datestamp, fresh and Fine, perhaps a half dozen are known (Image) 
Huntsville Tex., 5c Black
entire (92XU1). Control mark with "Paid" and "5" handstamp, lightly
struck "Huntsville Tex. Feb. 17" circular datestamp, markings strengthened
in ink, on cover to Montgomery Tex., one flap partly torn away, attractive
and very rare, this is the only example recorded in Crown, ex MacBride,
Sibley and Everett (Image)

(42XU1). Clear strike of provisional marking with bold "Iuka Miss. Nov.
21, 1861" circular datestamp on cover to Waterloo Ala., slightly reduced at
top and minor edgewear, Fine and rare, only seven are listed in Crown
survey, ex Matz, with 1991 C.S.A. certificate

entire (43XU2). Clear strike of provisional marking with "Jackson Miss.
Sep. 12" circular datestamp on yellow legal-size cover to military address
at "Miss. Army, Pass Christian Miss.", 1861 docketing at left
indicates sender is Chief of Ordnance, few edge faults, light creases and
age spots, still Very Fine and rare, only three are recorded, this example
unlisted in Crown census but from samne correspondence as one other, with
1998 C.S.A. certificate (Image)

entire (43XU1). Provisional marking struck twice overlapping, neat
"Jackson Miss. Dec. 12" circular datestamp on cover to military address at
Pensacola Fla., slightly reduced at left and small repairs, otherwise Fine,

Ashville Ala., Oct. 2, 1861 pencil docketing at left, fresh and Very Fine,
rare, this is the earliest of the three known used examples of this
provisional, described and illustrated in Nov. 1860 issue of Confederate
Philatelist, illustrated in Crown book, with 1991 P.F. certificate
which states that "it is a genuine postmaster provisional entire, but there
is no evidence it was postally used", an opinion which is based on lack of
a town datestamp (Image) 
Jonesboro Tenn., 5c Dark Blue
entire (45XU2). Strike of provisional handstamp on orange-buff cover to
Richmond Va., expertly repaired tear at top of coverFINE. ONLY TEN EXAMPLES OF THE JONESBORO PROVISIONAL ARE RECORDED IN BLUE.
The Crown survey counts fifteen examples of the Jonesboro provisional entire, including five struck in Black and ten in Dark Blue. Some of these, such as the example offered here, do not have any town datestamp. With 1994 C.S.A. certificate (Image)
