Nov. 21, 1861" circular datestamp on cover to Waterloo Ala., slightly reduced at top and minor edgewear, Fine and rare, only seven are listed in Crown survey, ex Matz, with 1991 C.S.A. certificate (Image) 1,600.00 375.00

Army, Pass Christian Miss.", 1861 docketing at left indicates sender is Chief of Ordnance, few edge faults, light creases and age spots, still Very Fine and rare, only three are recorded, this example unlisted in Crown census but from samne correspondence as one other, with 1998 C.S.A. certificate (Image) 2,000.00 475.00

Clear provisional marking on cover addressed to Ashville Ala., Oct. 2, 1861 pencil docketing at left, fresh and Very Fine, rare, this is the earliest of the three known used examples of this provisional, described and illustrated in Nov. 1860 issue of Confederate Philatelist, illustrated in Crown book, with 1991 P.F. certificate which states that "it is a genuine postmaster provisional entire, but there is no evidence it was postally used", an opinion which is based on lack of a town datestamp (Image) 1,500.00 800.00

FINE. ONLY TEN EXAMPLES OF THE JONESBORO PROVISIONAL ARE RECORDED IN BLUE.

The Crown survey counts fifteen examples of the Jonesboro provisional entire, including five struck in Black and ten in Dark Blue. Some of these, such as the example offered here, do not have any town datestamp. With 1994 C.S.A. certificate (Image)
